MOVIES ON DEMAND

Premiering On Demand This Week (April 12 - 15, 2011)

- HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS™ – PART 1
- COUNTRY STRONG

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS™ – PART 1 (Warner Bros.)

If you have read the books or seen the films to date, this penultimate installment of the “Harry Potter” movies will keep you riveted to the screen, as it includes many of the most exciting scenes from book seven. The stakes can’t be any higher than this, and the characters that we’ve followed since they were children have grown into adults with close ties to one another and an unfailing determination to help the wizarding world (with real acting chops, too).

The cast reunites once again, surrounded by veteran stars (including Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort and Alan Rickman as Severus Snape), and the film is directed by David Yates, helming his third “Potter” movie. The look and feel of the film is genuine as you follow Harry (Daniel Radcliff), Ron (Rupert Grint), and Hermione (Emma Watson) on the lam and hunting for Horcruxes in an attempt to defeat Lord Voldemort.
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint.
Rated PG-13 / 146 Minutes / Available 4/15

Same day as DVD, before Netflix and Redbox.

COUNTRY STRONG (Screen Gems)

Attempting to make a comeback after her husband gets her an early release from rehab, country music star Kelly Canter (Gwyneth Paltrow) tours three venues along with her opening act, a beauty pageant winner turned singer wannabe named Chiles (Leighton Meester). Also accompanied by her manager/husband (Tim McGraw), and her lover, Beau (Garrett Hedlund), a real country talent, the characters each ride their own emotional roller coasters.

Though the film has its dissenters, some of it may have to do with how the fan base and critics perceive the roles they feel Gwyneth Paltrow should play. As it stands, though, the film is a throwback melodrama about the life of a music star, warts and all, complete with booze, pills, and adultery. It’s well-acted and shot, so if this is your shot of whisky, by all means drink it down.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Garrett Hedlund.
Rated PG-13 / 117 Minutes / Available 4/12

Same day as DVD, before Netflix.
