THE CONSPIRATOR – Premieres August 16

Robert Redford brings Abraham Lincoln's assassination to life in a fictionalized version of Mary Surratt's 1865 trial. THE CONSPIRATOR has a terrific cast and offers moments.

This is Redford's most satisfying film this decade (LIONS FOR LAMBS, THE LEGEND OF BAGGER VANCE), but it's been 30 years since his best (and first) film ORIDNARY PEOPLE and 16 years since QUIZ SHOW. Risk watching on demand for the parts, but not the sum.

A vampire movie based on graphic novels based in the future, what could go wrong? One empowered savior vows to take on a wave of enemies. Sans the vampire, reminds me of LEGION. Hey, wait a second, both movies were directed by Scott
Stewart and star Paul Bettany.

I'm sure they don't pay as well, but time for Bettany to return to playing Russell Crowe's sidekick where he can deliver saucy lines and not have to carry the movie on his shoulders.

I love it when attractive, successful characters struggle in love. We should all be concerned with how they coorect past mistakes and perfect their lives.

Okay, fine, we don't want to watch unattractive people in movies, but there is little sympathy for any of the characters in this contrived movie.
