SOURCE CODE Punches Its Way On DemandJuly 05, 2011

Movies On Demand Premiering This Week (July 8, 2011)
- SOURCE CODE
SOURCE CODE (Summit)
Another action film where the hero (Jake Gyllenhaal) can time travel (sort of, but for only 8 minute intervals) to find a mad bomber. Why do criminals prey upon public transportation (SPEED) in Hollywood movies? Leave commuters alone! I'm going to wager today's screen writers are not taking the bus or train to work. Can't someone write a screenplay about Porches & Ferraris as the target of mayhem?
Gyllenhaal seems like a movie star who will break the box office, but which of these films were you eager to watch since BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN (RENDITION, BROTHERS, LOVE AND OTHER DRUGS. PRINCE OF PERSIA did okay, but even with video game audience, didn't break $100 million). Maybe they didn't crush in theaters, but I'll give him credit for diverse film selections. And with that, I think the most interesting factoid of SOURCE CODE is that the film director, Duncan Jones, is David Bowie's son. The spawn of Ziggy Stardust must have some creative thoughts. We'll see what he does next, but for a slow week On Demand, Risk It.

Duncan Jones / SOURCE CODE (Summit)
Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan
PG-13, Action
Weeks Before DVD, Weeks Before Netflix and Redbox
