Every once in a while, it’s good to watch some true crime so you can feel a bit more like your life really isn’t going off the deep end (I’m still recovering from that almost government shutdown and Donald Trump’s revival of the birther talk). Thank goodness for customized marathons.

Here are few shows that have had me not looking at the bottom of an empty wine glass or wishing I was in that episode of Dallas where Patrick Duffy (Bobby) really wasn’t dead at all. He just had some contract negotiations to work out. Ah.

Spike TV On Demand’s 1000 Ways to Die is an excellent morph between gross graphic novel and ridiculous college kid reenactments. My recent favorite episode included the sizzling death of a mooching roommate who used her roommate’s cream, used another roommate’s tanning bed and eventually used up her last mooch.

1000 Ways to Die (Spike TV)

The show takes true bizarre deaths, adds a reenactment and then adds some scientists who can explain the bizarre deaths to you, all with big BAM graphics like your old favorite Batman TV show with Adam West.
