Kate’s Top Movies On Demand For The Guys

By Kate Asche Wilson
Boys it’s December. Time to drop all that hard earned cash on people that you only kind of like. It’s easy enough in theory, but let’s be real. You’re not going to risk getting trampled by a crazed soccer mom just to get that 75% off Cuisinart. No, you’re going to huddle inside where it’s safe and watch a Movie on Demand. Eventually you’ll find your way to to avoid the stress of the holiday’s altogether, but no one has to know that. Don’t worry I’m sure Grandma will love her new ShamWow.

Top On Demand Films For Guys:
THE BOURNE LEGACY- Premiers December 11
It’s the Bourne series. Granted without Matt Damon, but his replacement is Jeremy Renner who is essentially the new age action god. So the series centers on Jason Bourne. Whatever. Hollywood doesn’t care about details. We give you Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, and enough action packed goodness to last you a lifetime. Never question our greatness!
PG-13, Action, Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Same day as DVD, weeks before Netflix & Redbox

TED- Premiers December 11
Mark Wahlberg and a giant oversized bear voiced by Seth MacFarlane. I’m pretty sure every man that ever existed would want a crass depraved teddy bear guiding them through life, and helping them achieve a level of debauchery that is only fantasized about in comic book fan fiction and porn. Not to mention I’m 100% sure that this is the exact future of Stewie Griffin and Rupert if they were real. Who am I kidding? They are real. Seth Macfarlane is a futuristic alien that is sleeping with the mother of dragons and slowly taking over our minds.

TV-MA, Comedy, Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Same day as DVD, weeks before Netflix & Redbox

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES- Premiers December 4
It’s Batman. BATMAN. If you have no idea what this series is about you seriously need to buy a computer and get your head out of your ass. However, if you've been alive for the past five years you’re obviously well aware of this incredible revamped Batman saga, and must watch this film immediately. Christian Bale is back as the beloved caped crusader in this perfect ending to Christopher Nolan's trilogy. His villains? The gorgeous Anne Hathaway as a completely kick ass Catwoman and Tom Hardy as a frightfully vindictive Bane. I know you might still be reeling from the horror that was BATMAN AND ROBIN, but don’t worry. Tom Hardy’s Bane is nothing like Uma Thurman’s monosyllabic sidekick. The absence of terrible dialogue and unwanted bat nipples is also a plus.

PG-13, Action, Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Same day as DVD, weeks before Netflix & Redbox

A Film For The Babes That The Guys Will Like:

TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE- Premiers December 18
First off I recommended this for the babes. Second it’s about baseball and stars Clint Eastwood. My god you seriously need to send me a fruit basket or something. This story follows ailing baseball scout Gus (Eastwood) who takes his daughter (Amy Adams) on his final recruiting trip. I understand men and their obsession with baseball. I’ve seen FIELD OF DREAMS! Which is why I feel completely confident with recommending this to you. Remember STEP UP: REVOLUTION? Yeah I totally have your back.
PG-13, Drama, Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, Same day as DVD, weeks before Netflix & Redbox
Guys and Babes:

LOOPER- Premiers December 31
This crime drama follows Bruce Willis as he is employed by a futuristic criminal organization to go back in time and kill his younger self (Joseph Gordon-Levitt). Besides the fact that the plot of this film is absolutely amazing, it also has an incredible cast, and will be an entertaining and fantastic film for both babes and guys. It has action, adventure, crime, romance, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Legitimately everything you could ever possibly want in a film.
R, SciFi, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Same day as DVD

March Movies On Demand - Awards Season!

By Kate Asche Wilson

It’s March team! You know what that means? Nothing! Because March is the absolute worst month of the year. Seriously does anything even happen in March? I had to Google Saint Patrick’s Day to make sure it is in fact in March. It is! So there’s that. Also, hilariously enough, I uncovered some extra special knowledge on the fun holidays in March that are pretty much unknown to most everyone. There’s Employee Appreciation Day, National Pig Day, Worship of Tools Day, and my personal favorite Multiple Personality Day. You and Sybil can finally have that quality time you’ve been craving!

And what better way to celebrate all of these delectable holidays that watching some Movies on Demand. Nothing says Extraterrestrial Abduction Day quite like a nice Movie on Demand.

Happy celebrating!

Hobbits, and wizards, and dwarves, and everything that’s good in the world! All wrapped up in a delicious Tolkien package. It stars every awesome British actor that has ever graced the silver screen, and is a truly epic fantasy that completely lives up to its name. This film should be watched immediately and then over analyzed on extremely zealous Internet fan sites.
PG-13, Adventure, Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Same Day as DVD, Weeks Before Netflix & Redbox, Available in 3D

LES MISERABLES- Premiers March 22
Perfect if your story topic of choice is revolution and prostitution! This film also features the gorgeous Anne Hathaway in her heartbreaking Oscar winning performance as the tragic Fantine. An extra bonus is the added treat of ogling the delicious man candy that is Eddie Redmayne and Aaron Tveit. Not to mention it’s one of the most groundbreaking cinematic achievements of the year, and completely deserves all of the accolades it receives.
PG-13, Musical, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Same day as DVD, Weeks before Netflix & Redbox

THIS IS 40- Premiers March 22
This witty Judd Apatow comedy stars Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann in a ridiculously great spin-off from the mega hit KNOCKED UP. Playing the two best supporting characters in cinematic history, Rudd and Mann tackle the hardships of parenting while still remaining hopelessly flawed. Let the hilarity ensue!
R and TV-MA, Comedy, Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Same Day as DVD, Weeks Before Netflix & Redbox
