Dax Shepherd Provides BROTHER'S JUSTICE On Demand (Tribeca Film On Demand)
By Adam Schartoff
In the wake of Rob Reiner’s SPINAL TAP and a subsequent series of Christopher Guest “mockumentaries” comes BROTHER’S JUSTICE directed by and starring actor Dax Shepherd and co-directed by David Palmer. Dax (PARENTHOOD, THE FREEBIE) plays a variation of himself, a proto-Hollywood actor/producer who is constantly pitching movie ideas despite how developed or undeveloped those ideas may be.
Feeling as though he has been typecast as a comic actor, Dax’s latest inspiration is to reinvent himself as a martial arts action hero; a sort of latter day Chuck Norris. Dax thinks he’s on to an ingenious plan when he comes up with the title BROTHER’S JUSTICE.
Dax Shpeherd: BROTHER'S JUSTICE (Tribeca Film)
There’s not much more to it than that. For the balance of the movie, Dax and his best pal, producer Nate Tuck (who also happens to serve as this film’s producer) try to pitch this moronic idea to a bunch of industry insiders.

Kate’s Top Movies On Demand For The Babes

With the dream team of real life couple Dax Shepard and Kristin Bell how could this awkward comedy not be good? The film is written and directed by Shepard who also stars as the protagonist Charlie Bronson, a former getaway driver that is now in the witness protection program. Bell plays his girlfriend who has the opportunity to live her dream in Los Angeles but needs Shepard to drive her there. Putting himself in jeopardy Bronson embarks on this ill-advised road trip, but finds himself in all sorts of hilarious situations including a slew of chase scenes fueled by a wayward Bradley Cooper. Honestly I wish I was watching this right now.
R, Comedy, Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard, Same day as DVD, weeks before Netflix & Redbox
I realize that most films that are catered towards women are terrible rom coms that have loose plots and star Jake Gyllenhaal. I mean don’t get me wrong I would watch basically anything that had Jake Gyllenhaal in it, but sometimes I just want something a little different. Like a terrifying mother daughter horror film that just screams we will never sleep comfortably again. Starring Jennifer Lawrence and Elisabeth Shue this film centers on Elissa and Sarah who thought they found the perfect house at the end of the street, but discover it has more secrets than their realtor let on. Hey it had a nook! How were they supposed to know it was infested with a murderous spirit?
PG-13, Thriller, Jennifer Lawrence, Elisabeth Shue, Same day as DVD, weeks before Netflix
TO ROME WITH LOVE- Premiers January 15
I love everything Woody Allen does so be prepared that if a Woody Allen movie comes out it will be on this list. And for good reason too because the man is brilliant. With an ensemble cast that includes Alec Baldwin, Penelope Cruz, Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page, and Woody Allen himself, TO ROME WITH LOVE brings us to the beautiful city of Rome where four separate vignette stories are told. It’s a Woody Allen film so you have to prepare for some magical realism and a lot of neurosis, but trust me it’s definitely worth it.
R, Comedy, Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page, Same day as DVD
A Film For The Guys That The Babes Will Like:
SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS- Premiers January 29
I’m certain this is one of the most underrated films of this year and insist that you watch it. Watch it with your guy, watch it with your friends, watch it with yourself. Just watch it because if you like absurd and incredible comedy you cannot miss out on this. I’m not even going to tell you the plot because I don’t want you to make any false assumptions. Just go watch it. Now. I will tell you though that Christopher Walken is in it. And we all know that everyone loves Christopher Walken.
PG, Family, voices: Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short, Charlie Tahan, Same day as DVD, available in 3D
Babes And Guys:
FRANKENWEENIE- Premiers January 8
Tim Burton is filled with wacky weird whimsy and the worlds he can create are just like him. FRANKENWEENIE is no exception, and pays a beautiful homage to the classic black and white horror films with its story. Following a tragic accident where our hero Victor’s pet dog Sparky is hit by a car, Victor decides to bring him back to life. Because of the mayhem and destruction the “new” Sparky has caused, Victor must now convince his town that despite his appearance Sparky is the same loyal dog they knew before. This animated film is smart and entertaining, and will be extremely enjoyable for both babes and guys.
PG, Family, voices: Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short, Charlie Tahan, Same day as DVD, available in 3D

April Movies On Demand
Hey On Demanders Kate here with a public service announcement to let you know that On Demand Weekly has finally decided to descend into vlogging madness. That’s right! Now instead of reading my monthly movie picks you can watch me talk about them. To put it into perspective on an Internet awesome scale this is right in between cat memes and photos of Ryan Gosling.
Now get ready because it’s April, and you know what that means? Spring! Flowers blooming, angels singing, noses running. Weather you don’t really understand but you strap on those Macramé wedges anyway. Springtime is the best. Not just because of the constant abuse of Nasonex, but because of the fabulous On Demand films. So once you’re done planting that pointless herb garden take my advice, and put on one of my top April Movies on Demand. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
The Top On Demand Move For The Babes:

THE IMPOSSIBLE- Premieres April 23
THE IMPOSSIBLE is about a misunderstood tsunami and the family that gets trapped in its vicious watery path. Based on a true story this heart wrenching tale stars Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor as a family vacationing in Thailand with their three sons. Unfortunately before they even have time to order a coconut cocktail they are overtaken by the natural disaster and their family is tragically separated. What follows is the harrowing tale of their near death experience finding each other, and is so powerful that you’ll never want to travel to a tropical island ever again.
PG-13, Drama, Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor, same day as DVD
The Top On Demand Movie For The Guys:
DJANGO UNCHAINED - Premieres April 16
DJANGO is a Tarantino film. Tarantino! People explode when they get shot in vivid Scorsese red. It’s amazing. Christoph Waltz plays a crazed dentist, Jamie Foxx is a free slave with a personal vendetta, and the underappreciated Leonardo Dicaprio takes on the best villain this side of Hans Gruber. People please. It’s Tarantino.
R, Action, Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, same day as DVD
The Top On Demand Film For Both:
SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK- Premieres April 30
SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK is one of the most charmingly hilarious Indy rom-com’s in cinematic history. Bradley Cooper in his best role to date plays a bipolar man plagued by the whoreiness of his ex- wife, and the unstoppable Jennifer Lawrence plays opposite him as a sassy yet unbalanced widow with a need for a dance partner. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll enroll in a salsa class. You’ll come out of it with a sense of purpose and a new outlook on life. Trust me. Silver Linings Playbook is perfect for anyone with a heart and an interest in mental disorders and spandex.
R, Comedy, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, same day as DVD
