District 9

An extraterrestrial race is forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth as refugees but when a government agent is exposed to the secrets of their biotechnology an alliance is quickly formed. Simple yet brilliant - one of the best films of the year.

EXCLUSIVE ON DEMAND WEEKLY SWEEPSTAKES

Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman star in this comedy from the director of WEDDING CHRASHERS and the writers of THE HANGOVER .

One drunken night, two friends admit that they wish they had the other’s life. Mitch (Reynolds) thinks Dave has it all: a beautiful, loving family and a high-paying job at a prestigious law firm. But Dave (Bateman) thinks Mitch’s stress-free life without obligation or consequence is the real dream come true. The next morning they wake up, hungover, in each other’s bodies, and proceed to freak out! With time not on their side, Mitch and Dave comically struggle to avoid completely destroying each other’s lives before they can find a way to get their old ones back.

Movies On Demand Premiering This Week (November 8, 2011)

- THE CHANGE-UP
- HARRY POTTER & THE DEATHLY HALLOWS – PART 2

THE CHANGE-UP – Premieres November 8

Two very likeable actors (Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman) take their turn at a more adult version of FREAKY FRIDAY. One is married with kids (Bateman) and the other is single (Reynolds). They're envious of each other's lives and presto - body switch.

There are some fun, rawer comedic moments with this growing repetitive movie premise. Reynolds and Bateman fans enjoy while you anticipate ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT's return (sorry Ryan).
Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman
Available in both R and NR, Comedy

Same day as DVD, Weeks before Netflix and Redbox

5 New Movies On Demand to Watch - July 2014:

Kate
By Kat Ashy

It’s finally July team! The official best month of summer. Not only are there illegal fireworks and possible boating, but there are cheeseburgers, and potato salad, and general patriotism. It is the best month to get a little day drunk and hoard tiny festive umbrellas in your pina colada. And it is the best month to grab the extended family that won’t leave, sit them in front of the TV, and put on a nice movie on demand. Don’t forget Aunt Sharon! Here are my top five picks for July.

5. LIFE ITSELF, Premieres July 4 Same Day As Theatrical Release
An incredibly entertaining documentary about iconic film critic Roger Ebert based on his 2011 memoir. Two thumbs up!
R, Documentary, Martin Scorsese, Werner Herzog, Roger Ebert

4. UNDER THE SKIN, Premieres July 15 INDIE PICK
Scarlett Johansson plays a sexy alien that preys upon unsuspecting Scotsmen. It really just sells itself.
R, SciFi/Thriller, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy McWilliams

3. RIO 2, Premieres July 29 - FAMILY PICK
The perfect film to watch with the fam. What sort of shenanigans will Blu and Jewel get into this time? Well, three kids for a start, the Amazon, and father-in-laws.
PG, Animated/Family, Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, George Lopez, Leslie Mann, Kristin Chenoweth, Jamie Foxx, Andy Garcia, Bruno Mars

2. BAD WORDS, Premieres July 8 - COMEDY PICK
Comedies starring Jason Bateman are my Kryptonite, and this one has revenge, Allison Janney, and an unhinged adult participating in a spelling bee!
R, Comedy, Jason Bateman, Kathryn Hahn, Rohan Chand, Allison Janney

1. THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, Premieres July 1 - TOP PICK
Wes Anderson is the quirky, stylized director of my dreams and he does not disappoint with THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL. The star-studded cast is helmed by Ralph Fiennes who plays M. Gustave, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel. Aided by his most trusted companion, lobby boy Zero Moustafa, he is thrust into a murder mystery centering on a Renaissance painting and an enormous family fortune. It is just as wonderful as MOONRISE KINGDOM, if not more hilarious, and is a must see film. What are you still doing here? Go watch it! Now.
R, Comedy, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, Tony Revolori, Harvey Keitel, Jude Law, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Saoirse Ronan, Owen Wilson, Léa Seydoux, Tom Wilkinson, F. Murray Abraham, Mathieu Amalric

That’s July friends. Happy watching!

5 New Movies On Demand to Watch - December 2014:

Kate
By Kat Ashy

Sleigh bells are ringing, chestnuts are roasting, and Rudolph’s being subpoenaed for a disastrous FUI incident. It’s officially the holiday season! And in between preparing those delicious latkes and forgetting your distant relatives names, make sure you schedule some quality On Demand time. Nothing softens the blow of forced merriment quite like a nice Movie On Demand, and I’ve got my top five December picks right here!

Kat’s Top Five Movies On Demand:

5. THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY, Premieres December 2 FAMILY PICK
This foodie masterpiece starring Dame Helen Mirren is a surefire way to satisfy your December gluttony.
PG, Drama, Helen Mirren, Om Puri, Manish Dayal, Charlotte Le Bon

4. THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU, Premieres December 16 - DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY PICK
Holidays breed familial insanity so why not watch this dysfunctional bunch that includes Tina Fey, Jason Bateman, and Jane Fonda.
R, Comedy/Drama, Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Jane Fonda, Adam Driver, Rose Byrne, Corey Stoll, Kathryn Hahn, Connie Britton, Timothy Olyphant, Dax Shepard

3. THE MAZE RUNNER, Premieres December 23 - TEEN PICK
Young Adult Dystopia fiction will not die! And in this case it’s a good thing since THE MAZE RUNNER is essentially a New Age Lord of the Flies.
PG-13, Action/Sci-Fi, Dylan O'Brien, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Kaya Scodelario, Will Poulter, Patricia Clarkson

2. THE SKELETON TWINS, Premieres December 16 INDIE PICK
Putting Kristin Wiig and Bill Hader together as estranged twin siblings is a genius move. Whoever casted this deserves a pie.
R, Drama, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Luke Wilson, Ty Burrell

1. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, Premieres December 9 TOP PICK
We are Groot! The biggest blockbuster of the summer is finally On Demand and if you didn’t catch it in theatres you must watch it now. In the Marvel universe, Chris Pratt stars as the charismatic Star-Lord who helms a team of vigilante criminals that include a ruthless assassin, an overly literal behemoth, a crazed raccoon, and a talking tree. With its 70’s soundtrack and “don’t give a shit” attitude GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY reigns supreme as the most entertaining film of the year.
PG-13, Action/Adventure, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper (voice), Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel (voice), Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Benicio Del Toro

That’s December team! Be sure to read what other great movies premiere On Demand this month below.

Happy watching!
