My name is Tara and I’m a couch workout addict. I can admit it. I like to think of new exercises to do while watching endless “Law & Order” episodes. The boyfriend is mad because my exercise DVDs are breeding. I’m banned from buying anymore from Ebay or Collage. What’s a girl to do? I figure if I’m already paying for cable, I might as well browse through the stuff nobody knows they have: Video On Demand (VOD)! I used to think that it was just full of movies nobody heard of before but necessity has given me a new addiction! For free.

Which brings me to now.

If you’re like me, the holidays brought a wrath on your wallet and your ability to say “no” to the second, fourth and maybe sixth helping of leftovers, mall treats and last year’s Halloween candy that never goes away. It’s my goal to use this remote to shrink my thighs. Who’s with me?

I know “Slumdog Millionaire” is old news but I was watching Bollywood movies before even knew that song from the movie that never leaves your head. I’m convinced black people and Indians have some kind of rhythm connection. I mean they dance like Michael Jackson (RIP).

Back 2 Bollywood is not your average Fit TV mainstreamed out class. This is taught by a real woman in a sari with some women in saris behind her and some guys in tunics. Interesting that we are stretching first and then going into the dancing. I’m a stretch fiend so you don’t hear me complaining. I wish stretching burned calories.

When I was six, I told people I wanted to be a doctor and a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. Thank god I forgot about that when it came time to apply to college. The show has become my substitute and it’s shown me I could NEVER care about cheers the way these girls do.

This VOD workout though is KILLER.

Sunny Anderson seems to be a new kid on the butcher block.Heh heh. She is presenting me with her grandmother's pound cake with apples and nuts. I contemplate but decide not for me as it's ingredient heavy (think of this Grandma Cake as something you'd make to get a raise). Chicken casserole next!

Aaron McCargo, a Food Network Star winner (these things I know!) is making something for his lady love (um, okay Lou Rawls) so that sounds like a perfect place to poach a recipe. Parsnips? Hmm...mashed parsnips with marscapone cheese. Why wouldn't you just mash potatoes? Parsnips are ugly and they don't sound like they'd go over well with the very particular BF who goes way back with potatoes. Way back. Let's move on to the veal chops.

He's chopping some peppers telling us a special story about his great mom (aww) and then I realize he's cooking this for his mom who is his lady love? I'm confused but then I have an AHA! moment and when I recover I realize he's mixing prosciutto and cheese together for the veal. I've already gotta modify or cancel as I don't eat pork but I feel like I've gone too far to stop watching now. I like that he's not as chatty as that Sunny and he's not repeating himself either. You know why? Because the judges have already put him through the ringer from the Next Food Network Star contest. I watched. I'm proud.

My friend Beverly and I have a hard time with Gina and Pat Neely. They can cook their tales off, no lie. But they need a bedroom in their kitchen. Their flirting and compliments remind me of an old In Living Color skit.

I'm going to try them out though because the BF loves shrimp and The Neely's, bless their hearts, have stayed away from the pig for this episode. We're working on a marinade and it's only been thirty seconds before Pat makes a innuendo that grosses me out. If they were really this lovey dovey, they'd be the Duggars and twenty kids in. But the Duggars also make twinkie pies for dessert so they don't have time to marinade Asian shrimp.

Due to the fact that there is very little on VOD related to cooking, I had to go back to Sunny and give her another shot. I feel like she and I started off wrong with the baby vomit rice and I already know everyone else so well. So Sunny's got some finger food recipes that could go over sexy depending on the mood for Valentine's Day. And how can you go wrong with empanadas and stuffed potato puffs? That's what we call romantic in this house.

Already I can tell Sunny is excited about this meal, no repeatsey nerves like before. And she just shouted out Bayridge Brooklyn! 718 in the house! Okay, empanadas. Onions, chillies, garlic, etc. Sunny sounds like she's a frugal. She wants to feed an army on a dollar and she likes street food because it's cheap. I'm with you, Sunny! All I have is a dollar and a Valentine meal dream!

In my head, I’m an international interior designer. I’m the Michael Kors of homes. In reality? My apartment looks like I’m still in college. My clothes are comfortable on the floor, my books shun a bookcase, my clutter piles are expecting a maid anytime now. Whenever I think I like a color scheme, it comes out looking off. My goal this year is to get that together. Especially since we might be moving soon!

Vern Yip is one of my favorite HGTV stars. He’s so nice. I wonder if he’ll end up on an MTV Celebrity Death Match. That would be fun. Except when I see his show First Time Design, which takes a layman (like me) and gets them to design a room for other people, with Vern’s help. This episode, the newby is Monica, an almost legally blind stay at home mom with a retina disease. Hmmm. She might be the only one I have head’s up on. She’s got to put a living room together for a couple who want a Balinese design. Hey, I like that too! I think.

So I’ll watch the snow boarder champion (he mentioned it) give me a tour and get some ideas for when the big lotto ticket comes in.

Things to wish for: a Boost Mobile phone booth, a hot tub on the deck, a macked out wooden cabin.

I just realized that I probably take a few steps back as we are in the early stages of looking for a new place. What better show to watch than House Hunters? I know we’re renting but LA is a renter’s market and its just as much a detailed search as buying. Nobody wants freeway noise, traffic, tight quarters or street parking – renting or owning.

Jeff and Carmen are a couple with kids and they are looking to move for more room and more quiet. They have no formal dining room and, while the freeway is convenient, it’s preventing them from sleeping. Zoinks. We’re looking to move closer to a 101 entrance or a main street to take us where we need to go. Maybe not. Like us though, they are looking to not move again for a while. When searching for apartments in LA (I’m about to turn into a Craig’s List ad), it’s easy to get frustrated and forget the key points you’re looking for just for the sake of finding the perfect place. Welcome to my life House Hunters!

I decided to open my mind and see if McDreamy’s trailer from “Grey’s Anatomy” would be something we could consider. Hey, I’m getting panicked about find an apartment, what can I say? But I’ve always loved a Airstream and this little four minute showcase of a SoCal resident restoring one seemed interesting. Yes it looks like an aluminum can BUT you can totally be on the beach without emptying your wallet.
